Negative Sentences کیا ہوتے ہیں؟
Negative sentences، جیسا کہ الفاظ سے تائثر ملتا ہے، ضروری نہیں کہ بری چیزوں کے لیے استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔ کسی بری عادت کے نہ ہونے کے اظہار کے لیے negative sentence استعمال ہو سکتا ہے، جیسے "He does not smoke”. کسی fact کے اظہار کے کیے negative sentence استعمال ہو سکتا ہے، جیسے "I don’t speak French”. کسی نقصان دہ چیز سے روکنے کے لیے negative sentences کا استعمال کیا جا سکتا ہے، جیسے "Don’t cross the red line”. مختلف چیزوں کے اظہار کے لیے negative sentences کا استعمال لازمی اور بہت اہم ہے۔

Negative Declarative Sentences
Declarative Sentences یا statements دو (2) طرح کی ہوتی ہیں: Positive اور Negative. کسی چیز کے نہ ہونے, نا پسندیدہ ہونے، انکار کرنے، منع کرنے اور اس قسم کے دوسرے اظہار کے لیے negative sentences استعمال ہوتے ہیں, جیسے:-
I am not flying to Lahore.
That isn’t the way to Liaquatabad.
He wasn’t eating red meat.
They don’t practice any more.
Ahmed doesn’t have to commute to work.
They will not be joining us for dinner tonight.
She won’t be attending the annual ceremony this year.
They weren’t playing hockey.
Declarative Negative Sentence کیسے بنتے ہیں؟
- اگر جملے میں auxiliary verb استعمال ہوں، helping verb کے طور پر یا main verb کے طور پر، تو ان کے بعد not لگایا جاتا ہے:-
He is not playing.
She can not swim.
Ahmed will not go to Islamabad.
They are not from Asia.
She was not Laughing.
Shakeel could not win the race.
These are not almonds.
We were not sad when she moved away.
- اگر جملے میں auxiliary verb نہ ہو اور verb کی پہلی فارم استعمال ہوئی ہو (Present Simple Tense) اور subject تھرڈ پرسن سنگیولر ہو تو verb سے پہلے does not لگایا جاتا ہے اور verb کو بغیر اضافی "s” یا "es” لگایا جاتا ہے، جیسے:-
He plays cricket. (affirmative)
He does not play cricket. (negative)
She writes articles. (affirmative)
She does not write articles. (negative)
- اگر جملے میں auxiliary verb نہ ہو اور verb کی پہلی فارم استعمال ہوئی ہو (Present Simple Tense) اور subject تھرڈ پرسن سنگیولر نہ ہو تو verb سے پہلے do not لگایا جاتا ہے ، جیسے:-
ٰ I play cricket. (affirmative)
I do not play cricket. (negative)
We write articles. (affirmative)
We do not write articles. (negative)
You like mangoes. (affirmative)
You do not like mangoes. (negative)
- اگر جملے میں auxiliary verb نہ ہو اور verb کی دوسری فارم استعمال ہوئی ہو (Past Simple Tense) تو verb سے پہلے did not لگایا جاتا ہے، اور verb اپنی base form میں لگتا ہے، جیسے:-
Has, have, had کے ساتھ negative sentences
- اگر has, have, had کو auxiliary verb کے طور پر استعمال کیا جا رہا ہو تو negative sentence بنانے کے لیے has, have had اور main verb کے درمیان not لگایا جاتا ہے، جیسے:-
I have not finished my work yet.
She has not eaten her meal.
Ahmed had not taken any loan from the bank.
- Has اور Have کو اگر main verb کے طور پر possession, personal characteristics اور relationships کے لیے Present Simple Tense میں استعمال کیا جاۓ تو (1) subject اگر third person singular ہے تو have سے پہلے does not, اور (2) subject اگر third person singular نہیں ہے تو have سے پہلے do not لگے گا، جیسے:-
He does not have a fleet of cars. (possession)
She does not have a nice personality. (Personal characteristics)
Saima does not have a daughter. (Relationship)
They do not have a brother. (Relationships)
Ahmed and Saeed do not have many friends. (Relationship)
- Had اگر main verb کے طور پر possession, personal characteristics اور relationships کے لیے Past Simple Tense میں استعمال ہوا ہو تو negative sentence بنانے کے لیے had کو ہٹا کر did not have میں تبدیل کر دیا جاتا ہے، جیسے:-
He had a nice banglow. (affirmative)
He did not have a nice banglow. (negative)
She had a son. (affirmative)
She did not have a son. (negative)
Ahmed had a nice body. (affirmative)
Ahmed did not have a nice body. (negative)

Negative Interrogative Sentences
Interrogative sentences پازیٹو بھی ہوتے ہیں اور نیگیٹو بھی۔ Negative Interrogative Sentences دو (2) طرح کے ہوتے ہیں:-
- Question Word کے ساتھ
- Yes/No answer والے
Question Word کے ساتھ negative interrogative
- یہ negative جملے question word سے شروع ہوتے ہیں اور عام طور پر subject کے بعد not لگا دیا جاتا ہے، جیسے:-
Why are you not coming today?
Where have we not looked for you?
Why can you not come early in the morning?
What can you not do?
Which meeting will you not attend?
- not کو auxiliary یا linking verb کے ساتھ contract کر کے(جیسے don’t, won’t, aren’t, isn’t) بھی negative interrogatives بناۓ جاتے ہیں۔ ایسی صورت میں queston word سے آغاز کر کے فوراً negative contraction لگائی جاتی ہے اور پھر subject( اگر ہو تو ) اورباقی جملہہ آتا ہے:-

Negative Interrogatives
- اگر not کی auxiliary verb کے ساتھ contraction ہوئی ہے (جیسے، don’t, won’t, aren’t) تو negative interrogative بنانے کے لیے، not والی contraction جملے کے شروع میں آۓ گی، پھر subject (اگر ہو)، پھر main verb اور باقی جملہ۔
- اگر contraction استعمال نہ ہو تو پہلے auxiliary verb, پھر subject (اگر ہو)، پھر not, پھر main verb اور باقی جملہ آۓ گا۔

Negative Sentences میں no کا استعمال
Negative sentences میں no کا کثرت سےاستعمال ہوتا ہے۔ No کا استعمال مندرجہ ذیل جگہوں پر ہوتا ہے:-
- Yes/No answer والے سوالات کے جواب میں۔ ان سوالات کے جواب میں No شروع میں آتا ہے، پھر comma اور باقی جواب:-
No, I will not come today.
No, we don’t agree with you.
No, she cann’t swim.
- کسی چیز کے نہ ہونے کے اظہار کے لیے ایسے noun جن سے پہلے a, an اور the نہیں ہوتے no لگایا جاتا ہے:-
There is no bread left.
She has no money.
The company had no rivals in the industry.
She had no idea what time they were arriving.
- ایسے adjectives جو noun کے ساتھ ہوتے ہیں اور ان سے پہلے a, an یا the نہیں ہوتے، no استعمال ہوتا ہے:-
There are no small sandwiches.
No young people went to the meeting.
There were no big headlines.
- Gerund سےپہلے no استعمال کیا جاتا ہے:-
No fishing.
No smoking.
No trespassing.

Not اور No کے علاوہ دیگر الفاظ کا استعمال
Negative Sentences بنانے کے لیے not اور no کے علاوہ دیگر الفاظ جیسے neither, never, no one, nobody, none, nor, neither, nothing, nowhere بھی استعمال ہوتے ہیں، جیسے:-
She has never been abroad.
Nobody came to the house for several days.
None of my cousins live near me.
No one came to rescue her.
None of us was present in her wedding.
He was nowhere when his name was called.
I have nothing to say in reply to her letter.
Neither he nor his family was invited.
Negative sentences بنانے کے لیے prefixes اور sufixes کا استعمال
نیگیٹو جملے بنانے کے لیے prefixes ( جیسے: de-, dis-, un-, ir) اور sufixes ( جیسے: less) والے الفاظ بھی استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔
He was very disrespectful to the teacher.
I have not seen such an irresponsible person.
Her attitude was uncompromising.
He appears to be very demotivated.
The new printer is useless.
He is a penniless person.
I never came across such a shameless person.
Negative sense والے الفاظ
کچھ negative sense والے الفاظ ( جیسے: few, hardly, little, rarely, scarcely, seldom) سے بھی negative sentences بنانے کا کام لیا جاتا ہے:-
There are rarely ducks in the pond.
We seldom hear any noise at night.
Baluchistan province is scarcely populated.
Few persons were able to get stadium tickets.
He could hardly get passing marks.
There are very little chances of her successs.
Double Negatives کا استعمال
کسی sentence میں دو (2) مختلف فارم میں negatives استعمال کیے جا سکتے ہیں لیکن ان کا نتیجہ affirmation میں نکلے گا یعنی جملہ positive ہو جاۓ گا۔ گرامر کے لحاظ سے یہ غلط ہو گا۔ نیچے دیے ہوے جملوں میں negative word کو دوسرے negative کے طور پر استعمال کیا گیا ہے:-
He cannot go nowhere without informing me۔
She will not come never here.
Don’t you know nobody in this town.
There wasn’t no one in the office.
Nobody doesn’t like to think he is worthless.
I cannot do nothing to help him.
البتہ prefixes سے بننے والے negative words کا دوسرے negative کے طور پر استعمال کارآمد ہوسکتا ہے، اس طرح یہ جملے positive sense دے سکتے ہیں، جیسے:-
He is not an irresponsible person.
I did not find her uncompromising.
Waheed had no irregular attendance record.
He was not found involved in unhealthy activities.

Negative Imperative Sentences
Imperative Sentences کو negative بنانے کے لیےsentence کے شروع میںDon’t لگایا جاتا ہے اور اس کے بعد verb کو base form میں استعمال کیا جا تا ہے، اور پھر باقی جملہ آتا ہے،جیسے:-
Don’t push the door.
Don’t pull the door.
Don’t shut the windows.
Don’t eat any meat.
Don’t open the window, please.
Please, don’t come in.
Don’t open your books.
Don’t go out.
Don’t speak to Sam.
Please don’t write your name on paper.
Don’t drink any water.

Negative Exclamatory Sentences
Exclamatory sentences میں negatives بنانے کا کوئی خاص طریقۃ نہیں ہے۔ Exclamatory sentences کبھی declarative sentences سے ملتے جلتے ہوتے ہیں ، کبھی imperative sentences سے ملتے جلتے ہیں، اور کبھی negative sentences سے ملتے ہیں۔ بس ان کی ٹون exclamatory ہوتی ہے اور ان کے ساتھ exclamatory mark لگتے ہیں۔ تو exclamatory کے negatives بھی ویسے ہی بنیں گے۔ نیچے دی ہوئی کچھ مثالیں دیکھیں:-
