?What is a syllable

کسی انگلش word کا تلفظ سمجھنے کے لئیے syllable کا مطلب سمجھنا ضروری ہیں۔ اگر آپ کسی ڈکشنری کی مدد سے انگلش لفظ کا تلفظ (pronunciation) سمجھنا چاہیں تو ڈکشنری میں لفظ کی ادائیگی syllable کے ذریعے سمجھائی جاتی ہے۔ syllable کے معنی ہیں ’’word کا ایسا جزو جو ایک ساتھ ادا ہو‘‘۔ مثال کے طور پر انگلش کا ایک word ہے pot ۔ ہم اسے ایک ساتھ ادا کرتے ہیں۔ ایسے بے شمار words ہیں جیسے big, far, my, his, her, وغیرہ وغیرہ۔ یہ one-syllable یا single-syllable یا monosyllable والے words کہلاتے ہیں۔
