Prefix کیا ہوتا ہے؟
English letters (انگلش حروف) کا ایسا سیٹ جو کسی لفظ کے شروع میں جوڑا جا تا ہے جس سے اس لفظ کے معنی بالکل بدل جاتے ہیں یا ان میں مزید اضافہ ہو جاتا ہے، Prefix کہلاتا ہے۔ جیسا کہ انگلش کا ایک لفظ ہے "expected” جس کے معنی ہیں ’’متوقع‘‘۔ اگر expected سے پہلے "un” لگا دیا جاۓ تو یہ unexpected ہو جاۓ گا، جس کے اردو معنی ہیں ’’غیر متوقع‘‘ ۔ یہ جو اضافی "un” ہے جو لفظ سے پہلے لگایا گیا ہے، یہ prefix کہلاتا ہے۔ وہ words جن کے ساتھ prefixes یا suffixes لگاۓ جاتے ہیں بنیادی الفاظ یعنی root words یا basic words کہلاتے ہیں۔ ہماری اس مثال میں لفظ expected ایک بنیادی لفظ یا root word کہلاۓ گا۔

Suffix کیا ہوتا ہے؟
